( Care Guide )
Made to last. Kept that way.
A good watch rewards a little care. Worn and looked after, a Javile becomes a companion for years — quietly keeping time and gathering its own small history. Here is how to keep yours at its best.
( At a glance )
A simple rhythm
Daily
A soft wipe, and push the crown firmly in after setting.
Weekly
Brush and dry a metal bracelet to lift dust and oils.
Monthly
Condition leather; check the strap and clasp for wear.
Yearly
Have the seals and battery checked by a professional.
( 01 — Everyday )
Wearing it well
A watch is happiest worn. Regular wear keeps the movement healthy and the leather supple.
After setting the time, push the crown firmly back in — this keeps moisture and dust out.
Take it off before sport, heavy lifting, or anything with sharp knocks.
( 02 — Cleaning )
Keeping it clean
Wipe the case and crystal with a soft, lint-free cloth to lift dust and skin oils — this alone keeps a watch looking its best. For a metal bracelet, use a cloth lightly dampened with mild soapy water and a soft brush for the links, then dry it thoroughly. Never use solvents, abrasive cleaners, or steam. Leave the crystal and dial to a dry cloth only.
( 03 — What to avoid )
A few things to keep it away from
Water
These are dress watches — keep them away from swimming, showers, and saunas.
Magnets
Speakers, laptops, and magnetic clasps can disturb timekeeping.
Perfume & lotion
Spray and moisturise before you put the watch on, not after.
Heat & sun
Prolonged sun can fade a dial and dry out leather. Store it shaded.
Knocks
Set it down gently and take it off for anything rough on the hands.
Looked after, a watch keeps
more than time.
( 04 — Straps )
Caring for your strap
Leather
Keep it dry — leather and water don't mix. Wipe with a dry cloth, let it breathe between wears, and condition occasionally with a little leather balm. Rotating between two straps doubles their life.
Bracelet
Rinse off sweat and dust now and then with a soft brush and mild soapy water, working between the links, then dry completely. A dry microfibre cloth restores the shine day to day.
( 05 — Storage & servicing )
Resting and servicing
When it's not on your wrist, keep your watch in its box or a soft pouch — dry, shaded, and away from magnets and electronics. Lay leather straps flat rather than bent. If a quartz watch stops, have the battery replaced promptly so it can't leak, and ask for the seals to be checked at the same time. Should you ever see moisture under the crystal, stop wearing it and get in touch — we're happy to help.
